Blog Entry #5

Wow!  So many articles on such different issues!  Where do we start?

One word: socialism!

If America had a functioning socialist government then the issues in these articles would have been answered already.  There would still be questions about who is paying for what and why, but there would be a resounding answer: we all do!

The government should be ready to act on disasters like Katrina and the recent oil spill, but instead it is an afterthought.  In a society that puts so much effort into advertising about prevention, ranging from smoking to breast feeding, there seems to be very little pressure put on the prevention of disasters like oil wells blowing out or severe storm damage.  That is left to private insurance companies.

America is clearly failing to serve its citizens.  Everyone should recycle, everyone should make a living wage, everyone should have insurance, everyone should receive an education that enhances their natural abilities.  Why are preventable things happening when we pay so much in taxes?

The war in Iraq was useless.  The war in Afghanistan was preventable if the U.S. had stayed low in the 1970s.  I'm just at a loss to understand why there is so much discussion on the "why?"   America is obviously pulling down a lot of money from both tax payers and its capitalist ventures in war making, so I suppose in some ways it does behoove the government to wind up its citizens about issues that shouldn't be issues.  In order to keep the gears running, which from my perspective have been rusting since Reagan was in office, the government has to keep giving citizens distractions.

Those distractions are:
Health Care
Global Warming
Science, Math, and English Scores
Sex Offender Regulations
Victimless Crimes
Religion

How long has it been, friends and neighbors, since you actually looked into these issues rather than just listening or reading what the news offers up to you about them?
